Week 3 - Rumors and Lies

Happy Friday! TGIF because I get to make another blog post!! YAY!

So this week's quote is...

"A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is putting on its shoes." - Mark Twain

So today, actually, my grandma asked me to be completely honest with her. I agreed, and then she asked if I had a boyfriend.

I was in shock. Where did she even get that question?! I responded with "No." I haven't even gotten a boyfriend before.

She said that my cousin, who I was close to, told her mom that I had a boyfriend and I was keeping it a secret from everyone. Then her mom spread it to other members of the family on my dad's side that lived elsewhere. It spread there and then my cousin ( a different one) told my grandma.

This just proves that rumors fly, really fast.  My aunt chose to believe her daughter, and not even ask me, and then she spread it to others.

Wow. Someone who I kind of trusted back stabbed me.

Rumors fly around faster than the truth. Gossip is just more fun to carry around, but the problem with it is that it was hurtful. It was a lie.

So guys, don't start rumors. Don't spread it. Unless the person wants you to let the world know, don't say anything.

I'm letting you know a real-life experience to show you that it is real. It does happen. And it's weird because family isn't supposed to stab you like that.

But sometimes people can get jealous. Some people can get mean. Some people just don't like you.

My cousin (the rumor starter) is usually compared to me. So maybe that's why. Maybe she said it to bring down my rep to make herself feel better. Maybe none of these reasons are true.

So please don't bully people and be good to them.

Tomorrow, I'm going to ask her, and I'll let you guys know below this sentence. (I want to make sure that it's not true.)

See you tomorrow/next week!
